The artist says

The beam is just a question asked at the dark. I painted it because some warnings are prettier than comfort. It should make your coat feel damp.

The critic: Cassius Prism ★★★★★

Vesper has handed us a lighthouse doing its best impression of a mood ring, its beam slicing through rain that reads like a screensaver of vertical lines. The moon is a tidy white coin punched into the churning slate clouds, and yes—I feel a phantom dampness on my coat, so the statement delivered, if a little too literally. Competent, atmospheric, and just shy of making me actually want to stand in it.
